Natural coconut-soy wax is poured into a hand-carved wooden dough bowl with essential oils and three hemp wicks. Each candle is carefully packaged and comes with a label that lists the ingredients and burning instructions.
Why coconut-soy wax?
Natural coconut-soy wax is a sustainable, colorless and odorless wax made from cold-pressed coconut meat or coconut oil mixed with soy wax. It is considered as one of the healthiest and best types of wax to make candles with because it is nontoxic, biodegradable, and they don't produce as much soot as other types of wax. Coconut wax candles fill a room with an amazing aroma that is natural and mellow, but not overpowering. They have an excellent cold and hot scent throw, which makes them perfect for essential oils. They are long lasting, burn clean, and environmentally friendly.
The wooden dough bowl is hand carved out of Spanish Oak. Originally, the dough bowl was a colonial staple, both beautiful and functional. In the 1800's these hand-carved wooden bowls were originally passed down from mother to daughter and utilized frequently, since they were (and continue to be) the perfect spot to let bread dough rest and rise.
The inner part of the bowl candle is soaked in wax which makes it nonflammable. As with any candle, never leave the dough bowl candle burning unattended. When you’re done with the candle, the dough bowl also makes a great soap dish for Song of a Sparrow natural soap!

Your new dough bowl candle comes ready to light. Be sure it is in a place away from children, pets, anything flammable, and where there isn’t a draft. To get the most out of your candle, try not to make plans to go anywhere when you light it because you should let it burn for at least 4 hours or until part or most of the melt pool reaches the bowl. Each bowl is unique because they are hand carved. Because they are wide and flat, most likely all of the melt pool will not completely reach the edge all the way around. That’s normal. Let it cool completely for at least 2-3 hours in between each lighting. Always trim the wicks before lighting and never leave your candle burning unattended. When you’re completely done with the candle, to remove any leftover wax just place it in the freezer for a couple hours, take it out and the wax should pop right out. After that, to remove any additional wax or residue from the wick tabs place it in a warm oven at 170 degrees until it melts and it will wipe right off with a paper towel.
